The Suit of Cups: Emotions and Intuition

The Suit of Cups is connected to emotions, relationships, and intuition. If you think of tarot as a language, Cups are the part that speaks to the heart.

This suit is associated with the element of water, which naturally connects it to flow, sensitivity, and depth. When Cups appear in a reading, they often reflect your inner emotional world or your connections with others.

To remember Cups easily, you can think of them as representing connection and feeling. Any time you see a Cup card, it is worth asking yourself what is happening emotionally, either within you or around you.

Cups often show up in readings about relationships, friendships, and creative expression. They can indicate joy, love, and fulfillment, but they can also highlight emotional imbalance, avoidance, or overwhelm depending on the context.

When working with this suit, simple questions can be very helpful. What am I feeling right now? Am I allowing myself to experience this emotion fully, or am I pushing it aside? Is my intuition trying to guide me in a certain direction?

At Twist of Fate Yoga and Tarot, I encourage students to slow down with Cups. These are not cards to rush through or overanalyze. They ask for honesty and presence rather than quick answers.

The more comfortable you become with your emotional landscape, the easier it becomes to interpret this suit. Over time, you will begin to recognize how your feelings show up in the cards and how the cards reflect them back to you.
